ABOUT
Callowhill is a tiny, transit-friendly Center City-adjacent neighborhood in Philadelphia, stretching from Vine Street to Spring Garden, and Broad to 8th Street. Over the last twenty years, it's grown to accommodate a number of venues, restaurants, other businesses and an increasing amount of residential housing. You may know it as the Eraserhood, Chinatown North, the Loft District, or Spring Arts. In other eras, it was the Tenderloin, or Skid Row. This website uses the name and boundaries given in 2000 by the Callowhill Neighborhood Association.

Callowhill.net was created to explore the neighborhood's walkability to a vibrant music scene. With the site, you can find daily concerts at more than a dozen music venues, and pick a restaurant or bar near the neighborhood for before or after the show. The goal of the site is to illustrate all of the great stuff happening in Callowhill, and encourage more people to visit and find new bands and businesses to support. It is updated weekly by a volunteer who has lived in the neighborhood for more than a decade. The weekly event listings are provided in partnership with PhillyShows.org.
For definitional purposes, the site is meant to be a venue-first experience: Find a music act that you're interested in, and pick a restaurant or bar for before or after the show.
Yes, yes, we know that not every venue, bar and restaurant are explicitly in Callowhill.
There are three simple rules for the listings:
1. Venues have to be within a 1-mile walking distance of a center point of the neighborhood.
2. Restaurants and amenities have to be within a half-mile of walking distance of the border of the neighborhood.
3. With more than 100 dining options, Chinatown is so vast that it would dwarf the neighborhood's proximate options, so we've only included highlights. We recommend Yelp for dozens and dozens of other options.
